How Wendy’s Connected with Soccer Families Across Three Markets

October 28, 2026 by Megan Kirby

Through a multi-state sponsorship strategy, Wendy’s connected with youth soccer communities across Tennessee, Georgia, and Eastern Pennsylvania. The partnership combined digital marketing, tournament activations, and local restaurant promotions to reach families both on and off the field.

Sports sponsorships help brands build meaningful connections with consumers beyond traditional advertising. Through partnerships with three State Soccer Associations, Wendy’s reached 630,000 parents, players, and coaches across three markets.

Sports Sponsorships & Events Consulting (SSEC) developed customized sponsorship programs for each state. These programs aligned Wendy’s local restaurant marketing goals with the youth soccer calendar. As a result, Wendy’s gained opportunities to connect with families throughout the soccer season.

The Opportunity: Connecting with Youth Soccer Families

Youth soccer presents a valuable opportunity for quick-service restaurants like Wendy’s. Between practices, games, and weekend tournaments, families are constantly on the move. These busy schedules create a natural demand for quick, convenient dining options.

With this in mind, SSEC helped position Wendy’s as part of the soccer experience. The goal was to connect the brand with families when convenience mattered most.

Through partnerships with Tennessee State Soccer Association, Georgia State Soccer Association, and Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association, Wendy’s reached established soccer communities. Each partnership also offered opportunities to engage families within their local markets.

Building Brand Awareness Through Digital Marketing

A key part of the partnership was maintaining consistent engagement with soccer families throughout the year.

To achieve this, SSEC developed marketing initiatives across several digital channels. These included season kickoff campaigns, dedicated emails, text marketing, social media content, and website promotions.

The campaigns highlighted Wendy’s offers at the beginning of each soccer season. Additionally, year-round promotions helped the brand maintain visibility and connect with families beyond individual events. Rather than relying on a single campaign, this approach created multiple opportunities for engagement throughout the soccer calendar.

Bringing the Partnership to Life at State Cup Tournaments

Beyond digital marketing, Wendy’s brought its brand directly to soccer families at major State Cup championship tournaments.

Branded tents, promotional giveaways, signage, and interactive experiences helped Wendy’s engage with players, parents, and coaches. These activities gave families opportunities to interact with the brand during key moments of the soccer season.

In addition, the tournament activations strengthened Wendy’s presence within local soccer communities.

Across the three markets, Wendy’s State Cup activations reached a combined 84,750 event attendees.

Turning Soccer Engagement into Restaurant Visits

The partnership also focused on extending engagement beyond the soccer field and into participating Wendy’s restaurants.

To encourage visits, Wendy’s introduced exclusive promotions for youth athletes wearing their soccer uniforms at participating locations. These included offers for a free small Frosty.

As a result, families had an added incentive to visit Wendy’s after practices, games, and tournaments. The promotions also connected the soccer experience with local restaurants.

Together, tournament activations and restaurant promotions supported brand awareness while encouraging customer visits.

The Impact: A Scalable Approach to Local Sponsorship

The Wendy’s partnership demonstrates how national brands can use sports sponsorships across multiple markets while maintaining a local approach.

Through customized programs developed by SSEC, Wendy’s connected with soccer families in three states. The strategy combined digital marketing, tournament activations, and restaurant promotions to create ongoing engagement opportunities.
